HVAC New Year’s Resolutions

The new year is about new beginnings, new starts, and resolutions for improvement. No matter what your resolutions are, don’t forget to prioritize your home. Your home is a refuge from the outside world, a place where you can go and truly feel at ease; why not take better care of it in the new year? One of the most common things we hear from homeowners is that they let HVAC problems go on for too long or forego maintenance all together. That’s why we’re sharing our HVAC new year’s resolutions.

Resolution #1: I Will Change My Air Filter At Least Two Times This Year

Sometimes, the smallest and easiest fix can be entirely missed; this is especially true when it comes to your air filter. Our technicians often see dirty air filters left inside a system for too long. Any air pumped through your house first passes through an air filter. Different types of air filters can pull dust, bacteria, and mold from the air. If you want to know what filter is best for your home, ask your HVAC technician during your tune-up. This year resolve to change your air filter two times. If you are unsure, ask a Moore technician. They’ll gladly show you how to replace your filter and where it is located.

Resolution #2: I Will Have My HVAC System Inspected Twice in 2020

One of your HVAC new year’s resolutions should be to have your system inspected twice in 2020. One for your furnace, and once for your air conditioner. Homeowners should have their system tuned-up twice every year make sure small problems don’t turn into big ones. During a tune-up our Diamond Certified technicians thoroughly clean and inspect your HVAC system. They will check for leaks, inspect electrical components, blowers, fans, and every other part of your unit. Our technicians will also inform you of any problems you may have and the best solution.

Resolution #3: I Will Not DIY Any HVAC Repairs

We beg of you, please do not attempt to DIY any HVAC repairs; even to your thermostat. Far too often we are called out to fix something made worse by an attempted DIY repair. Your HVAC system is a complex machine full of different, and sometimes dangerous, parts. Each of our techs are expertly trained to diagnose, maintain, and fix most systems. When you call Moore Home Services, you are in good hands. Our techs will treat your system as their own and give it the time and respect it deserves.

Resolution #4: I Will Keep the Area Around My HVAC System Clean

Not many things cause HVAC related issues faster than debris and buildup. One of the best ways to prevent this is to keep the area around your HVAC system relatively clean. For your outdoor air conditioning unit, just sweep or clean around it once a week if possible. Dirt, dust, leaves, and other outdoor matter can get caught in the fan, fan motor, and condenser coils. A simple dusting should do the trick. When it comes to cleaning with a hose, please leave that to the professionals.
