When we talk to Santa Rosa homeowners about sewer line replacement, their first thought is how badly this will tear up their yard and home. What if we told you there’s a way to replace and repair your main sewer line without digging up your yard? If it sounds too good to be true, it’s not and it’s called trenchless sewer repair and it’s something we offer at Moore Home Services. If you want to learn how to get out of a potentially stinky situation with your yard and driveway intact, read on.
First, What Is It?
Before we go any further, let’s ask the important question, what is trenchless sewer repair? This repair method allows plumbers to repair your pipes underground, negating the need to dig out an entire trench. Before this method, a sewer line replacement meant a broken driveway, upended flower beds, and a very messy yard. Instead, trenchless sewer repair allows homeowners to have this repair made with a shorter turnaround time, less mess, and a smaller bill.
How Does It Work?
There are two methods of trenchless sewer repair. Which method we use depends on what condition your pipes are in. Because we’re in California, we often need to grapple with pipes that are misaligned due to earthquakes or other natural disasters. No matter the type of repair you need, they all start the same way, with an initial inspection. When you schedule an appointment, a Moore Home Services plumber will come to your home and inspect the sewer line with a camera. This camera inspection shows us the condition of your pipes and any debris that may be in the way. After the initial inspection, our plumbers will let you know which trenchless repair method is best. The two methods are:
- Repiping or Pipe Lining – When a plumber repipes a main sewer line, they’re essentially creating a new pipe in an old one. We can use this method when the old pipe isn’t broken or severely damaged. Our plumbers insert an epoxy coated liner into the damaged pipe. They allow the liner to cure for a few hours. After that time has elapsed, homeowners can be happy with a brand new pipe. This procedure is used when a pipe is full of debris, or starting to corrode, but still moves in a straight line.
- Pipe Bursting – The second trenchless sewer repair method is pipe bursting. Essentially, pipe bursting is inserting a “bullet” fitted with a new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe into the old pipe. The bullet breaks though the existing pipe and replaces it with the new HDPE pipe. We use this repair method when the old pipe is broken or misaligned.
Why Choose Trenchless Sewer Repair?
Honestly, we can’t recommend trenchless sewer repair enough! It’s the preferred method for our homeowners because it creates a much smaller mess than traditional sewer repair. Another bonus is that
it’s ecofriendly. Trenchless sewer repair allows for a large scale plumbing fix without disturbing the local wildlife. Despite all this, the best reason to choose trenchless sewer repair is that that you’re getting high quality pipe materials for a fraction of the cost. Traditional methods involve more labor and trenchless sewer repair takes away some of that labor cost. << Make sure these details about price is true….ask Edgar.
